Can I pay by UPI without a smartphone or Internet?

I often don’t carry my wallet and my phone is enough to help me transfer money via UPI.

The common assumption is that a stable internet connection helps me make these digital transactions. But what if – I am in a place with #no #internet connectivity?

The answer is yes..

UPI is available for non-internet based mobile devices (smartphone as well as basic phones) in the form of dialling *99# and is known as USSD 2.0.

Did you know? Did you try?

The ‘*99# service’ was introduced to include all mobile users and if the phone number you are using is linked to your bank account, then you can avail all facilities of UPI using *99#.

WHAT? WOW!!!

I love traveling the unpopular locations and that shouldn’t stop me or you being #cashless or bank in #offline mode. Isn’t it?

Dedicated to the nation by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28th August 2014, as part of #PradhanMantriJanDhanYojna,
and launched to take the banking services to every common man across the country…..

My concern is that this feature has been there for quite some time but is not that popular? National Payments Corporation Of India (NPCI)

44 crore people still use feature phones and more than 25,000 villages in the country don’t have access to internet.

So, while UPI outside India is a “PROUD” moment for us, its penetration to the remotest corners within India – will bring the true “PRIDE”.

Please check out this #fincuts that decodes the *99# service with all the FAQs in the comment section.

Keen to hear your thoughts and thank you for being the learner in me to the learner in you!
